I don't want to be an Intactivist.
It is not fun.
I do not wish forge my friendships, or to join a community of people where the only thing we have in common is a fight against a socially acceptable, pointless, cruel crime against children.
This is not some fun club, with cool logos, banners and slogans. This is not a hobby. This is not a community. Yes, we do stand together to bring about awareness and fight for the basic human rights of those who cannot speak for themselves. But I'll be glad when we don't have to do this anymore. I'll be glad when I can pick friends with common interests and hobbies. I'll be glad when there is no need to say anything because little boys can finally enjoy the same basic human rights as little girls.
I don't want to be an Intactivist.
I am Garrett Wolfe, and I am an Intactivist.
Until the violence ends.

Absolutely Agree with Mr. Garrett
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment.
ReplyDeleteSince I stumbled upon the truth several years ago my life has been turned upside down. I am now 100% committed to this cause and will remain so for as long as it takes. It is indeed depressing to reflect on the amount of time and effort I, as a relative newcomer, have spent protesting against an abuse that I was completely oblivious to only 5 years ago. (I won't say blissfully ignorant of, because the effects of circumcision have been insidiously imposing a corrosive effect on my life for many years).
For as long as I can remember I have been a strong believer in the universal fight for human rights. So it was something of a bombshell to discover that I am also a victim and did not realise it due to the conspiracy of silence that has cloaked this disgrace for so long.
I too look forward to the day when no human is subject to forced genital mutilation. My life has now irrevocably altered direction and purpose. I could have done without this in my life, but sadly it was forced upon me and countless others.
